NAIDOC Week

This week we have been celebrating NAIDOC Week within our community. We have begun to look at the history of Indigenous Australians through picture books written by Indigenous authors such as 'Say Yes' and  in Prep and Grade 1/ 2. We will be further exploring Indigenous history throughout this term.

On Friday we have Ganga and a Wurrundjeri elder coming to share with us some of their musical and dance culture. This was transferred from Tuesday.

Also on Friday is our free dress fundraiser for the Open the Doors Foundation that supports indigenous children to access education. Please come dressed in the colours of the Aboriginal flag and bring a gold coin donation.

Inquiry Gallery Walk

Grade 3/4R explored 'change' through science last term and the children presented their personal inquiries during the last week of term exploring many different chemical and other types of change in the world around us. The children filmed these presentations and are creating an Inquiry Gallery Walk to communicate to the community their learning. The children have filmed their presentations and created posters with QR codes linking to their presentations. These are in our Gallery Walk (the hallway between the library and the Jarrow Room). They would love to invite our parents to come and use the QR codes to look at their presentations.

Bastille Day Celebrations

The French National Day of celebration is the 14 July 'Bastille Day'. At St Bede's we are going to celebrate Bastille Day on Friday 29 July. On this day there will be a special French themed tuckshop day. The children are also invited to come to school dressed in a French theme, this can be as simple as in the colours of the French flag or maybe dress up as the Eiffel Tower!! Let the imagination run wild!!

Book Fair

The school Scholastic Book Fair will start on the 17 August. This will support our school Book Week celebrations the next week starting Monday 22 August. You will receive home a flyer advertising the Book Fair this week.
