Sturt Desert Peas Update

Rhiannon Brolly

What an exciting few weeks we have had in Sturt Desert Peas!

On the 10th August, we went to C.E.R.E.S environmental farm. The students learnt about how we can reduce our waste at home and at school. For example, we learnt that we can sort our rubbish into general waste (red bin), recycled (yellow bin) and green waste (green bin). We also learnt how to make our own paper and the students had an amazing time with this hands-on experience. At lunchtime Finally, we learnt about compost and even held some worms!

Back at school, we have been working hard in Reading, Writing and Maths. In Reading, we have been learning how to make a prediction and text to world, text to text and text to self-connections. In Writing, we have been brainstorming ideas to create narratives based on familiar texts such as Pig the Pug and The Three Little Pigs. In Maths, we have been learning about fractions and how to model fractions in different ways.

I am looking forward to the rest of the term and taking the Grade 3’s to Camp.
