FLINDERS UNIVERSITY

Flinders University will once again be offering uniTEST to current Year 12 students as an entry pathway for 2023.

uniTEST is an aptitude test that has been developed to assess the kinds of generic reasoning and thinking skills that underpin studies at higher education and that are needed for students to be successful at this level. uniTEST is offered to students at no cost and they cannot be disadvantaged by participating.

SELECTION PROCESS

Flinders University will select applicants based on both Year 12 results (60% weighting toward the ATAR selection rank) and uniTEST results (40%). Flinders will also consider applicants based on uniTEST results (100%) as a standalone entry score (subject to SACE completion and any course pre-requisites or specific admissions requirements).

PARTICIPATION

In 2021, almost 2000 students took part in Flinders UniTEST. Participation led to offers in courses across the university, including popular courses such as Law, Psychology, Medical Science, Nutrition & Dietetics, Paramedic Science, and Speech Pathology.

DELIVERY MODE

The college will administer the online delivery of uniTEST, under examination conditions, on Wednesday, August 31at 2:00 - 5:30pm in Q5.

Date: Thursday October 6

Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm

To find out more about the role of a Police Officer, visit www.police.vic.gov.au/careers

These sessions help you learn more about:

  • the police role itself
  • the recruitment process
  • and what a day in the life of a police officer looks like.

Victoria Police often get asked by our younger applicants how they can prepare to apply.

There are no specific subject selections required. However, any subjects that develop communication skills and physical fitness are helpful. Communications skills (verbal and written) are vital for policing roles.

The following suggestions will help develop life experience. They are the sort of things we look for:

  1. Work experience in a customer service environment (e.g. working at McDonald's). This provides exposure to different people and develops communication, teamwork and conflict resolution skills.
  2. Volunteer experience (e.g. working at the local surf lifesaving club or community centre). This develops community mindedness and communication skills.
  3. Sporting club experience (e.g. playing for a local sports team). This develops teamwork, communication and leadership skills and a healthy level of fitness.
  4. Overseas travel (e.g. a gap year or extended trip). This shows exposure to other cultures, religions, languages and fosters independence and assertiveness.

If you want to apply, we recommend that you seek customer service work while going through the recruitment process.

Work experience is the short-term placement of students with employers to provide insights into the industry and the workplace in which they are located. Students are encouraged to organise their own work experience placement early so that they have the greatest chance of securing their place of choice.

It provides students with the valuable opportunity to:

  • Develop employability skills.
  • Explore possible career options.
  • Understand employer expectations.
  • Increase their self-understanding, maturity, independence, and self-confidence.
