GAT EXAM 2022

On Wednesday September 7, 2022 all students studying a unit 3/4 subject and Senior VCAL students (Year 12) will be required to complete the VCAA General Achievement Test (GAT). Please note, all Year 11 and 12 VCE and VCAL students have no scheduled classes on this day. The GAT takes precedence over Structured Work Placement and VCAL students are asked to make appropriate arrangements for the day.

From 2023, the VCAA is transitioning VCE and VCAL to a new integrated senior secondary certificate. As part of the reform of the VCE and VCAL system, Victorian senior secondary students will this year have their literacy and numeracy skills measured against new standards in a redeveloped GAT. Further information pertaining to the GAT can be found via the following link.

Please read the attached letter for full information.

SAMPLE GAT QUESTIONS

Please see link below for sample GAT questions relevant for 2022, with the new changes around the GAT. The practice GAT papers that are available from the library are from last year but do not obtain all relevant content however, you are still able to complete these as practice. If you complete the literacy part of the GAT, Mr Brown has agreed to assess and provide feedback.

SAC ALTERNATIVE ARRANGEMENTS PROCESS REMINDER

As there are currently high volumes of students absent for SACs, we would like to remind you of the process and its importance.

The SAC alternative arrangement process is in place to support students who have missed or are aware that they are going to miss a SAC. This process applies to all students undertaking a Year 11 or 12 subject. For further information regarding the process, please see below.

If students are aware that they will miss a SAC or are absent due to illness/other reasons, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain the SAC Alternative Arrangement form from SIMON or their classroom teacher (attached).

  • Form must be completed by subject teacher, student, and parent/guardian. A Medical Certificate is highly encouraged.
  • Completed form, SAC and SAC front Cover to be handed to Mr Mel Ficarra or Miss Chelsea Hooper.
  • A confirmation email will be sent to students, subject teachers and the supervising staff member confirming the student’s application.
  • SAC Alternative Arrangement will be held each Thursday at 3:30pm in the library.

Some of these are outlined here. These options are not a definitive list but do provide you with relevant and known alternatives that may help you with planning your course progression.
