CLTAV Chinese Reading Award Review and Reflect

The Chinese Language Teachers Association of Victoria (CLTAV) Reading Award was held at The University of Melbourne on Saturday 6 August. This competition is a reputational and highly competitive annual event that attracts a great deal of students from both public and private schools in Victoria. One non-background student from each year level in Years 7-9 at a school is selected to enter the competition. Our students have been great ambassadors of DSC!

I found that the Non-background Mandarin reading competition was a wonderful opportunity and I found it to be a great experience to learn and improve my reading skills further. It was a wonderful event, and I hope to do it again next year!

I am so grateful to be given this amazing opportunity to represent my school, Doncaster Secondary College, in the year 7-9 Chinese competition. It was a wonderful experience to get up on stage and read out to the crowd a paragraph with the topic being "my hobbies (我的爱好)". I enjoyed every moment of that day, as I got to listen to other students speak Chinese, made new friends and met new people. I got to learn new words and add to my Chinese vocabulary. If I could, I would definitely take part in this competition again and I also recommend those who love Chinese culture to participate in this competition in the years to come.
