Awareness Through Education #9 – STEPtember for Cerebral Palsy
Putting Yourself in Someone Else’s Shoes (or Wheelchair)
Take a moment to imagine your body suddenly lost almost all movement, muscle tone and posture. Your life would dramatically change and day to day tasks would prove extremely difficult.
Now imagine you are confined to a wheelchair. How would that feel? What are the physical and mental implications associated?
Here are some things to try for able bodied people interested in getting a glimpse of life with Cerebral Palsy:
-Shoot a basketball while sitting in a chair
-Play catch with a group of people sitting in chairs
-Attempt a game of snooker or table tennis sitting in a chair
-Next time you go swimming, try to complete a lap using only your arms
