From the Principal

Week 7 Term 3 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

Whole School Athletics

On Monday the 29th of August our whole school athletics carnival will be held at Doncaster athletics track -2 George Street Doncaster East. All students are to be dropped off at the track at 8.45am. Parents are able to pick up students at the end of the day. Those students who are not picked up are returning to school by bus.  Mr Price has the names of these students from the Operoo forms.  Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help on the day. At this stage rain is predicted!!!!   We will let parents know by 8.15am on Monday if for some reason the day has to be cancelled.  If it is cancelled children are to be dropped off at school as normal.

Book Week Parade

The Book week parade will be held in the hall tomorrow morning commencing at 9.00am. It will be wonderful to see all the children and staff dressed up.

Father's Day Breakfast

Next week we will celebrate the fathers in our community with the Annual Father's Day Breakfast.  There are further details of the event in the Parents Association page of this newsletter. I look forward to both mornings. Once again thank you to the Parents Association for organising the event.

Father's Day Stall

The Father's day stall will be held on Thursday 1st September. The gifts can be purchased for the price of $6

School Closure

Just a reminder that the second professional learning day for staff for this term will be held on Monday 5th September.   As previously mentioned this second  professional learning day has been directed by Catholic Education. On the day the staff will undertake professional learning on "Positive Behaviors" as part of a program that the school is involved in. The day will be facilitated by Roland Wans from Catholic Education.

Confirmation Faith Day

The Faith Day for our Confirmation candidates will be held on Tuesday 30th August in the Jarrow room.  This is a full day event and candidates from other schools will be joining us. The Confirmation  ceremonies will be held on the  5th and 6th of October.  I am aware that these are week nights  and many families prefer weekends but unfortunately we are provided with these dates. Thank you for your understanding.

Concert/Performance

In last weeks newsletter I mentioned tickets would be on sale this week. Unfortunately this has had to be put back til early next week. We will send out an email the moment the tickets are available for sale.

Book Fair

I trust our community enjoyed the opportunity to purchase from our book fair.  From the sales of $6400 the school will receive just under $2000 worth of credit to purchase books for the library.  I thank our community for your amazing support.

Late arrival to school:

Just a reminder that the first bell is at 8.40am each school day. This gives children the opportunity to go to their classroom, unpack their bag and get ready for the school day. The children can arrive at school from 8.20am. The second bell is rung at 8.45am—this is when the roll is marked and learning commences. If your child arrives after 8.45am they will be marked as a “late arrival” on the roll.

We ask parents to ensure their children arrive by 8.40am each morning, to allow their child to prepare for the school day. Late arrivals can be disruptive as valuable lesson time is lost. Thank you for your support.

Have a great week

Brian
