“Learning is not attained by chance. It must be sought for with ardour and attended with diligence.”  Abigail Adams

Learning @ Brigidine

Term Three has been an exciting and busy time. Students have engaged in a variety of learning experiences this term, continuously shaping their perspectives, creativity and skills across many learning domains.

Year 7- 10 are approaching an assessment period that culminates their study for this term. Their engagement in assessment will allow them to showcase their understanding and skills as relevant to the topics, concepts and texts they have studied.

Term Three is a particularly pivotal term for our Stage 6 students. For our Year 11 students, they now approach their final assessments in the upcoming Assessment Block in Week 9. This is an opportunity for our Year 11 students to demonstrate, not only their knowledge and skills, but also the rigour and diligence they have applied to the first year of their senior studies.

Our Class of 2022 completed their Trial HSC examinations. They have received feedback and engaged in important conversations with their teachers, all of which are essential to shaping their study and preparation onwards to the HSC examinations.

A seemingly bittersweet moment exists. Year 12 approaches the end of their learning journey at the College and Year 11 looks forward to their final year of study.

Students, wherever they are on their learning journey, are encouraged to extend themselves beyond their comfort zone to achieve their personal best.

HSC Masterclasses

To ensure that our Year 12 students are best prepared for their final HSC examinations and that revision is targeted, an alternate timetable will be in place from Week 7. This timetable will allow for targeted revision sessions, whilst also accommodating the farewell activities planned for our Year 12 students.

From Week 7, our Year 12 students will be involved in a series of Masterclasses that will replace their formal timetabled lessons. Each course has been allocated three, two-hour Masterclasses across Weeks 7-10. During this time, class teachers will facilitate revision and practice of examination-style questions, an essential element for success in the final HSC examination.

The HSC Masterclasses schedule can be found in this document

HSC examinations commence Wednesday 12 October to Friday 4 November.

HSC Practical Submissions and performances of Major Works

Students of Design and Technology, Drama, Music and Visual Arts have completed and are in the process of submitting and/or performing their Major Works. The completion of these projects is the culmination of an extended period of research, contemplation, writing, rehearsing, practising and performance. We congratulate our HSC Practical students on the submission of their Major Works.

Year 12 Hospitality ‘Canteen Takeover’

The Year 12 Hospitality students performed a ‘Canteen takeover’ where they prepared a delicious breakfast, recess and lunch for the entire College. This event was highly successful and engaged the entire College community. Students completed three service periods, which they will be able to use as an industry example in their HSC examinations. The Year 12 Hospitality students are to be commended for their energy, effort and skill. We thank Mrs Kylie Little, Ms Althea Scorse, Mrs Heidi Swinkles and Mrs Vicki Zafiris for their support and leadership of the Year 12 Hospitality class.

Subject Selection - Stage 5

Students in Year 8  will commence the process of Subject Selection for Stage 5. Students will select a series of electives to complement their study of mandatory subjects in Years 9 and 10. The selection of electives is an opportunity for students to follow their areas of strength and interest and to make important determinations for their Stage 6 pursuits.  Further information regarding Stage 5 Subject Selection will be shared shortly with Year 8 students, parents and guardians.
