From the library

Hello everyone!

There are lots of new books (and some old favourites) to read this year – so make sure you come in and borrow some! Remember your library bag, too.

Did you know the oldest known library dates back to the second millennium BC, in Thebes, Egypt, and belonged to Pharaoh Ramses II? The library was called The House of Life, and can be found in the Ramesseum, a massive temple Ramses had built to celebrate himself. Above the library’s portal, or main entrance, it bore the inscription – ‘a healing place of the soul’.

Above, Ramses II and what is left of the Ramesseum today.

Speaking of libraries, Love your Library day is celebrated on February 14. This year’s theme is “Only You” – so start reading!

ONLY YOU !!!!
