'Advent is time of waiting for our Lord, who will visit us all in our own hearts, filling us with joy. The Lord is coming, let us wait for Him.'

An Advent Reflection

The Advent Season is all about reflecting on how we can prepare our hearts and homes for Christ's birth in the world as it is today. It is a time for faith communities and families to remember, through prayer, reflections, special music, and good deeds what the true meaning of Jesus' birth is.

The season of Advent in the Christian calendar anticipates the 'coming of Christ' from three different perspectives: the physical nativity in Bethlehem, the reception of Christ in the heart of the believer, and His Second Coming.

Third Week of Advent Liturgy

Please join the school community in celebrating the Third Week of Advent Liturgy in the hall on Friday 9th December at 9:05a.m. The Year 1 students will be leading the liturgy with the theme JOY

The pink Advent candle represents the joy of anticipation for Christmas and is lit on Gaudete or Rejoice Sunday. The rose colour of this third candle reminds us that the joyous feast of Christmas is near. It is also known as the Shepherd's Candle. The Shepherds Candle emphasizes the joy of finding the Christ Child and sharing this joy with others.

A Prayer for Joyful reflection:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the joy that entered the world when Jesus was born.

Thank you for becoming God with us.

Lord, sometimes it’s difficult to live joyfully, especially in difficult or busy seasons.

Please purify our hearts this week and remind us that You’re in control.

Help us to consider it joy when we experience trials of any kind because we know You’re creating something beautiful and eternal.

As we fix our eyes and hearts on You, fill our souls with renewed strength, courage, and hope.

Lord, you are always worthy of being praised – and we want to worship You!

Amen.

Christmas Hampers

At this time of year, the Mini Vinnies lead the school in the development of Christmas Hampers for the St Vincent de Paul Society. There are many people in our neighbourhood, parish and even school community who face challenging times for various reasons, therefore this an opportune time to help out.

Thank you to those families who have generously donated food and other items for the Christmas Hampers.  We are truly blessed with a community who genuinely demonstrates the importance of Catholic Social Teaching in our midst during this festive season.

St Therese's Christmas Concert

The weather was kind to us (for once!!) and we managed to celebrate our school Christmas Concert! We weren't letting this event go by, preparing and rejoicing during this festive season.

Thank you to all the families and students who attended the concert as well as the picnic dinner, to celebrate this important time in our Catholic liturgical calendar. From all accounts, it was great night had by all and proved to be standing room only!

The students sang beautifully and participated in the spirit of Advent, leading to Christmas. Thanks to all our staff for preparing the students and being a part of this special school event. Special thanks goes to Miss Jackie Bishop for her time and effort in organising and co-ordinating the event.

Please enjoy the photos from the Christmas Concert.

End of Year School Mass

We will be celebrating our End of Year Whole School Mass on Wednesday  14th December 2022 at 10:30a.m at St Agatha's Church, Cranbourne.

An invitation is extended to our wider school community to join us for this Mass celebration, rejoicing in the year we have had, along with the continued preparation we encounter for Advent, leading up to Christmas.
