From the Principal

Ms Noelene Hussey

Dear Parents,

Welcome to St Annes and the 2023 school year.  We are very proud of our children as they had a very successful first day at school today.  We thank you for your support to prepare your child for their first day. The discussions, the excitement of trying on new uniforms and carrying a school bag for the first time was well worth it.  Our 2023 Prep children arrived today very excited knowing now they are ‘big school kids’.  I was very impressed with the way they settled into school life.

I hope that you and your child’s experience at school is a positive one where you will all meet new friends, celebrate their achievements and embrace any challenges you may face.

Our children are at the centre of all we do at St Anne’s.  We recognise that each Prep child is an individual with their own unique learning needs. Our Prep teachers will design many learning experiences  that will assist your child to learn and achieve lots of positive outcomes. Not only our Prep teachers but all our teachers aim to ensure all our children make progress and succeed. They enable our children to develop a deep understanding about our world and how we can operate effectively in it. Our teachers will encourage our children to think, work creatively, explore and experience, plan, reflect, communicate and collaborate.

We encourage your involvement in your child’s learning at St Anne’s.  Together we can create an effective learning environment and a climate of mutual respect. There are many ways you can help your child to thrive at school;

  • Attending school and parish liturgies, masses and faith nights
  • Establishing regular contact with your child’s teacher
  • Reading to your child and listening to your child read
  • Encouraging your child to take increasing responsibility for his/her learning and organisational skills
  • Encouraging healthy eating, sufficient sleep and regular exercise
  • Celebrating your child’s successes
  • Attending school events, meetings and information sessions
  • Ensuring you read newsletters and messages so you are aware of what is happening at St Anne’s

I would like to remind you that if you have any concerns or questions regarding your child settling into school, the first person to consult is your child’s classroom teacher.  Jade Salpietro our Student Wellbeing Leader is available if you have concerns about your child’s wellbeing, Bianca Cutajar our Literacy Leader, Alexis Seddon our Numeracy Leader or Leona Dean our Teaching and Learning Leader can assist you if you have concerns regarding your child’s learning. Cath woodhouse, our Religious Education Leader can answer any questions you have about your child's faith development.

I look forward to working with you and watching your child develop and grow over the coming years.

Take care

Noelene Hussey
