Junior School

Prep & Year 1 Variety Show

Due to time constraints, the Year 1 and Prep classes could not perform in last week's Junior School Variety Show. Thankfully, their enthusiasm and energy did not wain, nor did their persistence in asking me to let the show go on. This week, I did let the show go on with some Prep and Year 1's performing in front of their peers. The performers left nothing behind, singing and dancing with such vigour that even I felt exhausted. Miss Agnew also came on stage for a surprise performance to the cheers of the crowd, singing My Lighthouse by Rend Collective. Great work Year 1 and Prep students.

Year 6

What an awesome, amazing time during the last two weeks for Year 6. We have had a Graduation presentation and celebration last week where we performed an amazing item and were presented with Graduation certificates.

We have also had Surf Awareness lessons where we learned:

  • Basic beach knowledge applicable to all beaches eg. swim between the flags.
  • How to avoid rips and what to do if caught in one.
  • Wave formation and safety around waves.
  • How to work with the ocean when surfing, boogie boarding and body surfing.
  • Basic knowledge of sea life relating to our local area and Australian waters

We also had a Christmas party and played silly games. We have had our last activities with our Prep buddies and said goodbye to them for the year. We also magnificently performed The Cool Nativity in front of most of the school and parents that could make it. The end of the year has been a blast for Year 6!

Junior School Lunchtime Worship

This made my day. I went out on lunch duty yesterday in the Junior School playground to see a spontaneous worship session taking place with students from across the Junior School year levels. Thank you to Mr Raven for supplying the music and the speaker. I hear this isn't the first time these sessions have taken place. It was so great to see our young students singing and dancing to worship music and mixing together regardless of age.
