Get Strong, Get Tough,

Get Real

Year 9 Team Building Day

Get Strong, Get Tough, Get Real!

Physical Strength. Mental Strength. Skills for Life.

On Thursday 14th September Year 9 students spent the day working on their physical and mental strength.  Iron Up Sport coached the students to success in a series of skills, drills and competition.

Taking on a proactive coaching perspective the Iron Up Team taught year 9 not only the skills and techniques essential for a positive and effective physical work out, but the importance of energy, trust, confidence, a positive mind frame and reaching your full potential to maximise your personal goals in every aspect of your life.

During the morning session the students stretched it out and warmed up with movement preparation and a series of exercises including dynamic stretches, mobility exercises and muscle activations.

After recess year 9 developed their movement skills and worked on conditioning with the Iron Up Team, completing a range of drills that not only challenged them physically but mentally.  They were reminded that the biggest competition is themselves and the importance of being a leader.

“Never let anyone tell you what you can and cannot be" - Vermon Davis

After lunch it was competition time and Year 9 challenged themselves and each other playing awesome games of Prowler Push races, Medball throw races, Two Man Touch Battle, and a Dodge Ball Battle.  To finish the day off Year 9 took on the Iron Up team in a Tug-O-War Battle….. and LOST!

They may have lost the Tug-O-War battle but Year 9 walked away with the knowledge and strength needed to be able to face the challenges thrown at them in everyday life. Sore and aching muscles, wobbly legs and the tingling of muscles complimented the hard work, strength built and memories made.

A huge shout out to Henry and his team at Iron Up Sport, who made the day such an awesome experience for Year 9.  Thank you to all the teachers involved on the day too, including Mr Issa, Mr Wilcox, Mrs Vella, Mr Dunn, Miss Shipley and Mr Faulkner.

“Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenges, wish for more wisdom. The major value in life is not what you get, it is what you become. Success is not to be pursued; it is to be attracted by the person you become” - John Rohn
