Victory in the Pacific

Commemoration Service

Three students from Year 10 attended the Commemoration of the Victory in the Pacific on the 15th of August in Cabramatta Park, organised by the Cabra Vale Diggers Club.  The ceremony commemorated the unconditional surrender of Japan to the United States in 1945, ending World War II.

The celebration included speeches by veterans and a wreath laying ceremony by students from numerous schools, including Cecil Hills High School.  There was also a flyover by a RAAF Hercules military aircraft.

The three students from Cecil Hills High School – Johnny Mammoliti, Elizabeth Vega Carrera, and Kosta Tsoukalas were proud to be involved in the commemoration.   Marek Diekonski, History
