Flying the Flag!

Raising and lowering the School Flags

Students from the Support Unit/Special Education have recently been bestowed the honour of raising and lowering the Australian and Aboriginal flags at the front of Cecil Hills High School.  ‘Flying the flag’ is an initiative from the school’s Diversity Team.  The aim of the initiative is to create a leadership role for the students in the Support Unit as well as educating the students on the importance of respecting the symbolic significance of both the Australian and Aboriginal flags.

The students raise the flags every morning and lower them every afternoon.  The students enjoy the process and are learning to understand the significance of it.
