Basketball

Next year the first game for the second half of the season will be on Saturday 1 February. This is the first Saturday back after the holidays. The training schedule for Term 1 next year will be the same as this term. Training will commence for all teams in Week two of Term 1.

Over the long break I hope that our players will find time to play Basketball with their friends or at least practice shooting at their local park.

Games of the day: 15As and the 17As. Both teams had great wins against St Augustine’s Teams.

Deserves a mention: Well done to the Open I team and the 13E team who secured their first wins for the season. All the people who have helped score so far this season. Thank-you for your help.

ISA Round  5 –  1st XI v Oakhill College at Oxford Falls

Batting first, the 1st XI made a steady start thanks to openers Adam Greenwood and Tyson McCallum who put on 52 runs. At 2/77 after 34 overs, there was a need to accelerate. Stuart Dingley and Joe Colgan combined well in a partnership of 73. A few late wickets were lost but the score of 5-149 was reached.

The 1st XI team knew that early wickets were needed to defend this total. Duncan Dingley captured one with his first ball, while Liam Chang’s excellent catch to give Josh Hooper his first wicket opened the game up. Hooper’s two spells of good pace were rewarded with three more wickets to ensure his return to the team made a real impact. Lima Kinna’s 10 overs spell yielded two wickets and just 12 runs as the pressure was maintained. James Power hit the stumps for all three of his scalps including breaking a dogged stand that kept the Oakhill chances alive. Tyson McCallum took three catches behind the stumps. This was a very impressive victory as the 1st XI bowlers bowled to their field and showed great spirit throughout.

1st XI 5-149 (Joe Colgan 35, Tyson McCallum 33, Stuart Dingley 30) beat Oakhill 112 (Josh Hooper 4-31, James Power 3-8, Liam Kinna 2-12).
