CHILD SAFETY STANDARDS
Mount Eliza Secondary College is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This will be our primary focus of our care and decision-making. This is embedded in our policies, procedures and teaching practice. The following steps are taken and review is ongoing:
A statement of commitment to Child Safety is included in all school policies and has been ratified by School Council.
We are currently documenting/bringing together our existing Wellbeing Policies and procedures to align with the child safe standards requirements to promote child empowerment and participation across the school.
Staff receive professional development in accordance to these policies and procedures and they are referenced in our Staff Code of Conduct. Student individual diversity is recorded on our Compass network and staff plan to make necessary adjustments. The Wellbeing Team meet regularly to review all student wellbeing matters. Our Student Wellbeing Coordinator is allocated the role of Child Safe Officer.
We apply mandatory reporting principles and follow up with wellbeing support.
We follow Recruitment in School Guide policy and implement practices to ensure all staff meet the Child Safe Standards/Victorian Institute of Teaching registration/Working With Children check.
New Staff receive induction outlining relevant policies.
All Staff participate in a Performance and Development Review process aligned to our policies, procedures and teaching practise.
School Council has endorsed a plan reviewing the effectiveness of the implementation of its risk controls in regard to Child Safety during 2017.

BELEURA HOUSE
Four students (Heather Mackay, Lauren Sexton, Amy Anderson and Ashleigh Harman) were delighted to attend an afternoon at Beleura House with Graeme Murphy, Lisa Pavane and Janet Vernon from the Australian Ballet School.
Letter of appreciation
"Thank you for taking the time to come down to Beleura House and share stories of your work with The Australian Ballet School, as well as inspire us with your wise words. Dancing is very close to each of our hearts and we were extremely touched by your speech, as well as the time you took to speak with us.
We would also like to pass on our thanks to Lisa and Janet for sharing their own incredible stories with us. Together your stories have motivated us to follow our own dreams and become the best people we can be.
The afternoon was a special moment for us and we cannot begin to express our gratitude with words, other than to say thank you once again."
