Rugby
We had 4 girls in the Victorian NRL u/16 Girls Rugby team The girls are- Akosita Siola’a, Arleah Hunt, Jessica Rastrick, Lea Galu. Malia Lole was named as an emergency. The girls played in Adelaide last weekend at the National Championships and finished 2nd overall – an outstanding performance.
Pierre de Coubertin Presentation
On International Olympic Day, June 23rd, 188 Victorian Senior Secondary School students and State Sport Association athletes were acknowledged with the prestigious Pierre de Coubertin award.
Named after the founder of the Modern Olympic Games, the Pierre de Coubertin Award recognises students who demonstrate academic excellence and sporting prowess whilst exemplifying the Olympic values. Each award recipient must participate in sport and display the Olympic values, in particular, good sportsmanship.
Melbourne’s own Nicole Livingstone OAM was the Emcee for the awards ceremony. Rio Gold Medallist Catherine Skinner OAM presented students with their awards.
The Minister for Sport was represented by Judith Graley MP, the Parliamentary Secretary for Education.
The 2017 recipient is Katie Bibby – our co Sports Captain. Katie has been an outstanding contributor to the whole school sports program, consistently performing at a high level across many sports, namely State level cross country and squash, region level at athletics, tennis and netball.

Katie’s citation read – “ Katie has been an extremely consistent performer across a wide variety of sports throughout her school career. She has made SSV State finals in athletics and cross country most years. She has been part of a team that has won the SSV State title in squash. Katie is our School Sports Captain and a leader in our Athlete Development Program. Katie is able to balance her participation across a number of sports as a player, coach and umpire whilst maintaining a high standard of academic performance.”

Senior Boys
Melton 3-3 lost to Gisborne 11-11. Paul Faoagali 3 goals.
Netball:
Yr 7 and 8 Girls
Yr 7 – def Staughton 14-9, def Bacchus Marsh 12-8 def Kurunjang 23-3 but lost the final to Sunbury 13-21.
Yr 8 – lost to Gisborne 6-40, def Kurunjang 13-3 and lost to Bacchus Marsh 10-15
Soccer:
SENIOR Boys - def Kurunjang 13-0 then def Sunbury in the Division final 5-3 in a terrific game. They qualify for the Region final next term.
SENIOR Girls – def Kurunjang 5-2 but lost the Division final to Sunbury Downs 0-1

Woolworths Earn and Learn
The annual Woolworths Earn and Learn program is returning. It starts on Wednesday July 26th through to September 19th. If you shop at Woolies it would be appreciated if you could collect and send the stickers to us to collect so that we can continue to restock some of our sporting equipment. We have qualified for approx. $1000-$1500 worth of gear each year of our participation. We appreciate the community support that you have given us and hope that you will all continue this support.
