NEW - Sacred Heart School 2022 Open Day

NEW - School Athletics Sports Day

On Thursday 4th March, the school held their annual school sports. It took place on the oval with every class in attendance.

The day started with marching. Owen Terry was the drum banger and McAuley (gold) won the marching trophy.  Mr. Bob Mathieson was the marching judge and felt that the gold marchers were very disciplined - not all of us agreed - I (Tanner) felt that blue should have won!

As the day went on, all of the grades from Foundation to Year 6 competed in all of their events.  Everyone tried their hardest and gave it their most!  It was a cracker of a day,

Harry Cameron, as always, dominated the Grade 6 boys sprints and long distance. However, Tanner Miller and Rory Hearn where close up behind. “It was the closest it has ever been!” said Rory Hearn.

Geary (red) ended up winning the sports and Frayne (blue) won the Most Disciplined trophy.

We (Grades 3-6) are now getting ready to compete at the Interschool sports in Week 10. We are looking forward to doing our best again.

NEW - Library Yr. 1

Library is an important part of our school activities.  Each week each class visits, chooses and changes books and listens to stories.

Library is an important learning time to practise reading, learn new words and to help children read smoothly. Library is also a time to read for enjoyment.

NEW - Yr. 3/4 Religious Education

This week 3/4 MC, NB and LB have been working on an RE assessment task about Lent. They were writing down words on purple pieces of paper, or on an iPad, that represented the meaning of Lent. Lent is a time to care for others and to go without to help us get ready for Easter.  Easter is amazing because Jesus died and then rose from the dead.

NEW - Junior Learning Area

This week Year 2 AN were discussing classroom responsibilities like bins, lunch orders, office trays and art smocks. The teachers give every child a classroom responsibility, they change jobs every week. These jobs are done every single day.

They have also been playing card games.

This week Year 2 KD were doing show and tell which is when a student brings something special from home and shares it with their class. This is Estelle’s bluey teddy.

This is Lucas and Anabella they are in the JLA (Junior Learning Area). This is a wonderful learning area, it is fun to work in. They have an amazing teacher Mrs Dundon. Mrs Dundon and Mr Nilbett both teach in the JLA. It has been a fun experience and they are enjoying it a lot.

It has been a great start to the year 2021.
