Message From Our

Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Congratulations to everyone on our School Athletics Sports. It was great to able to hold a school event and thank you to everyone for following the Covid expectations so this could happen. There was a terrific sense of fun, enthusiasm and team spirit throughout the day. All the students must be congratulated and parents should be very proud of how their children participated, tried their best and displayed real sportsmanship. Well done to Geary on winning the overall points, McAuley for winning the marching trophy and Frayne for the most disciplined team. Thank you, Rob Mathieson who came along to judge our Marching Event, and to the many families who volunteered to help throughout the day. Your time was greatly appreciated.  Thank you also to the many parents, grandparents and families who came along to support the children and make it an enjoyable day for everyone. We loved having you all back at Sacred Heart once again.  The District Sports for Years 3-6 will take place on Tuesday March 30th at the TPS.

Sunday 28th March is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week. These are the days leading up to the most important event in the Church year, the great feast of Easter- a time when Christians remember and celebrate the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.  Holy Week reflections, depicting the events of this week will be prepared by each unit and presented to the school community. Through these reflections, we participate in the remembrance of Jesus’ final days to commemorate this holiest of weeks.

Thank you to the children and their families who came along to our Children's Mass last Sunday.  After so long it was lovely to once again celebrate Mass with parishioners and have children join the choir and  read the Prayers of the Faithful.  Thank you Jessie Simpson for helping with the organisation and Fr John Paul for leading us in this special celebration.

Friday is the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. At Sacred Heart we believe everyone has the right to feel safe and bullying and violence has no place in our world. The National Day of Action is a positive day, bringing communities together to help find workable solutions that address bullying and violence. Our PBIS team have planned activities that classes will participate in to promote the important message, Bullying No Way!  While schools have a key role to play in tackling bullying, we also know the vital role everyone in our community must play to promote this message and the importance of continuing the conversation within our families.

Congratulations to our Year 5/6 learners who spent time with SAM this week as part of the School Challenge Project. Following the visit, we received a lovely compliment from our visitors regarding your children and their teachers. Please read the feedback on our School News page as I know it will make you very proud of your children and how they represent their school. Well done Year 5/6 and staff – we are very proud of you all.

Congratulations to Rhiannon Nevins and Cameron Dundon who received the Principal's Award in week 6 and week 7. Rhiannon received the award for her determination, resilience and successes throughout the Athletics Sports program and especially on the day. Cameron received the award for his tremendous effort in raising funds to help find a cure for leukemia through his participation in Shave for a Cure. Well done Rhiannon and Cameron!

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to watch over our school community and bless us always.
