Senior Boarding

Senior Girls

The rhythm of daily boarding life is settling into routine for the senior girls. The new Year 11’s and 12’s are finding out how the routine is filled with set study times, meal breaks and requirements such as the need for any leave to be approved. Returning boarders have been welcoming to the new Senior Girls and are helping them to feel comfortable in the boarding environment. All of the senior girls have set up their rooms and made them individual and homely.

The Year 12’s are realising that their time until exams is finite and that means freedom from school routines but also big changes in their lives. The numbers in Year 11 have grown significantly and a number are enjoying the freshly refurbished cubicles provided in response to the increased numbers.

With the relaxation of some COVID restrictions means that the Senior Girls have had  street and gym leave as well as opportunities to be involved in other activities within the community.

During the next few weeks we are planning to have some art work that has been created by the students displayed on the walls and look forward to sharing images of these with boarding families.

Lillian Holtorf

Lillian, a boarder in year 11 has loved and been successful at swimming for quite a few years. Her dedication has seen her get up at 5.00am to go to The Oasis for training no matter how cold the morning. This year Lillian has taken on a different style of swimming - Open Water racing. She was chosen after trials in Wagga to attend the Australian Open Water Championships in Coolum Queensland in March.

Lillian raced in the 5km open water challenge for girls 16 and 17 years of age. There were 60 girls in the race and Lillian achieved 23rd placement. Her experience was fulfilling, exciting and even frightening as swimmers swam over the top of her to escape the pack and hit the front. Lillian loved it so much she has said she would love to do another open water race in the future. Congratulations to Lillian for this achievement.

Robin Bussenschutt/ Senior Girls Supervisor

Senior Boys

Welcome to all new and returning students to the Mount Erin Boarding I am thoroughly enjoying my Supervisor role, particularly the opportunities to get to know the students amid the staff responsibilities and routines of boarding life.  I’m looking forward to establishing a relationship with the students and being there as a first point of contact for them when needed.

I can already see that the Senior Boys enjoy their recreation time together with table tennis a popular activity. Study sessions are underway each evening and the Senior Boys are developing their own routines for individual work supported by the online tutoring expertise provided by A Team Tuition.
