Religious Education

5/6MG

In 5/6MG we have been discussing the season of  Lent, the weeks before Easter

It is a time for our thoughtful preparation  before Easter.

During Lent we are asked to pray, give to charities and fast.

We have made a list of things we can do during this time to make a difference.

We will give up some of the things that we do for pleasure, help other people in need around the school and at home, and try to say reflective prayers every evening before bed and when we wake in the morning.

Here are some of our pledges & photos of us sharing them.

FASTING - “I will cut down on my screen time by an hour a night & spend more time with my family.” (Estelle)

“I will reduce television time by 45 minutes each day so I am outside more playing basketball." (James S)

“I pledge to pack up after myself and try to put things back where they belong after I use them."  (Abi)

ALMSGIVING - “I am going to give a little of my money to project compassion and also do some extra things around the house.” (Paris)

“I am going to give $3 to Project Compassion and cook dinner once a week to help my parents." (Melina)

“I will help mum with dinner and help dad with gardening. I will also try to keep my room clean and not leave my shoes on the ground for Buster to eat.” (Matilda)

“I pledge to help my mum and dad to chores such as sweeping the floor and washing the dishes each night, to help them." (Prytha)

PRAYER - “I will say a thankyou prayer every night before bed about all the good things that have happened to me each day”  (Kevin)

“I will pray for my family to be happy and healthy, for those who have passed away and the people that have no food or shelter.” (Felix)

“I will pray when I go to bed and pray when I wake up to show my gratitude towards my life, family and friends." (Adelia)
