Principal's News

Dear Families,

Each week at Trinity has its own highlights, but for me this week it was definitely being able to present all our school leaders with their badges and to be able to watch them working with Ms Antonella to really establish themselves as an important group in our school.

The process Ms Antonella took our leaders through ensured that each of them, whether in Year Prep or Year 6, had an equal voice and opportunity to share what leadership meant to them and how they could best represent their classmates to make Trinity the type of school they want it to be. Of course, throughout the year, our student leaders will have the support of teachers and school staff but we really do hope that the work they do and the ideas they share come from them and reflect what they would like to happen this year. Congratulations again to each of our Leaders and I look forward to many interesting meetings and sharing of ideas throughout the year.

Communication

I am very aware that clear communication is important for all of us at Trinity. Therefore, I would greatly appreciate some parent feedback in regard to the best ways we can ensure that all the important news we need to share between school and home is passed on in the best way. If you have a few minutes to spare please complete this simple survey which I can use to review our communication methods.

Swim Trials

'On Wednesday, 24 February, 7 swimmers went to compete against the other local schools in the District swimming competition at Richmond Pool. Congratulations to Amy, Amelia, An, Edie, Lavenia, Darren and Nathan who showed great courage and commitment to try their hardest and give it their all. We all had a lot of fun and it was a great experience for all the swimmers.

Well done to the following who came 1st/2nd in their event and will now go through to the next round at the Northcote Pool on Wed March 3rd'

Learning at Trinity

Of course, most of the learning that happens each day occurs in our classrooms, however, there is also so much that goes on behind the scenes to ensure the best learning can take place for our children. Each week all our teachers are involved in Professional Learning Team Meetings, focussing on different areas of the curriculum. Having attended a number of these over the past few weeks,  I can clearly see the effort that goes into each teacher's planning to ensure individual needs are being met.  The most recent meetings have been focussed on writing, with teachers looking closely at all the skills relevant to each writing level and how they can best support children to progress through these. We want our children to write for pleasure and with meaning but it is essential we give them the necessary skills to be able to do so.  There is no doubt that the more good literature our children are exposed to the better they can become as writers, so please keep encouraging your child to read at home as part of their daily routine.

Georgia, Year 1, hard at work with her writing.

Kind Regards
