From the Principal

Let Your Light Shine

Our staff and students celebrated our beginning of the year school Mass today. Fr Des and Fr Anil were very impressed by the reverence of our children. Congratulations to our choir on their magnificent singing at our first Mass together after such a long time. We pray for a year of growth so all can flourish as we let our light shine for all to see. As a school community we definitely want to act to make a difference to one another at school and in the world beyond. We are full of HOPE for a great year together.

SFS 2021 School Sports

It is that time of year when our whole community looks forward to our annual SFS Twilight School Sports. However with great sadness we are unable to hold this event at twilight this year and also have the whole community gather. While as Victorians, we are eagerly looking forward to the easing of restrictions it has not come faster enough for this event. However we are positive that we can slowly open up for future events and applying to run a Tier 3 event for under 1000 people before the end of this term. We will work with our staff and our Parent & Friends to ensure we abide by the COVID safe regulations to hold events especially outdoor events and return once again as a community. So we look forward to at the very minimum being able to run our Cross Country Colour run on the last day of the Term. We hope that a School Picnic and 10th Anniversary Mass can also be held. We are very hopeful.

In the meantime the show must go on!! The SFS Sports will go ahead and will be held during school hours on Friday 5th February. The seniors will gather for their events at 9:15am and the juniors will gather at 12:30 for their events. The colourful marques will be out and children are asked to wear their sports uniform and a t-shirt in their sports colour. Teams are gathering to look at ways they can cheer and support their team in 2021.

I wonder if it will be Patrick  the GREEN house in 2021 once again? or will it be the turn of Bosco - the RED team or MacKillop the YELLOW team? Maybe it will be Teresa the BLUE team who will win the Sports Trophy as it was in 2019. Can you guess who will win our 2021 Grade 6 Gift Trophy? Get involved and start training as a family and help children prepare to wear their team colours.

We look forward to a sunny day. The winning shield for the winning House and the Spirit award will be presented at our afternoon assembly. We will share all the exciting results with lots of photos in our next newsletter.

2021 School Production

A BIG thank you to all the children who have auditioned for our 2021 junior and senior production. It is fantastic to have so many children keen to be involved. The excitement is already building. I am very thankful for the creative energy of Kristy and Rachel to not only write a script for our children but undertake the enormous task of auditions for two productions!! This is a HUGE undertaking and it is important that the entire school community gets behind them and supports them. While all children cannot have lead roles there are important parts for all children. The team are always mindful to ensure children are able to shine and develop their creative capacity. The school concert is just one of many opportunities the school provides.

I know you will support them all the way and also support your child through this wonderful opportunity to learn, build resilience and develop confidence.  They learn the importance of team work, to take turns as we cannot all lead. They learn to dig deep, to persevere, surrender the me for the we and play their part for the good of the whole as just a few valuable life skills and benefits of a school production.

Kristy and Rachel are so organised that they are ready to place orders for costumes.

We will be requesting help in various ways and have now added a Production page to our newsletter so you can check out what is happening and assist in any way possible.

CSEF - Camp, Sports and Excursion Fund

Do you have one of these cards?

If you do, you may be eligible for $125 for each of your children from the government to go towards your camp fees, swimming fees or excursion fees.

It’s easy—just fill out the CSEF form available from the school office and present your current Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card and we will do the rest for you.

Applications should be completed and lodged with us as soon as possible in term 1.

This allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or  sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

A successful application equals a fee reduction.
