Kharisma Kids - OSHC

It’s all about colours this week at the Before and After School Program

This week at the Before and After School program we concentrated on colour.

What are the three primary colours?

RED     BLUE    YELLOW

Monday we looked at Red :- Red is the most dynamic and passionate colour symbolising LOVE, RAGE and courage.  In groups the children completed some activity booklets listing red 10 and colored in tulips for our window display.

Tuedsay we looked at Blue :- Blue is seen as dependable and committed.  The colour of the sky and ocean is blue, a constant calming and influence in our world. The children coloured in butterflies for our window display, the preps were also provided with a sheet to help them identify blue as a sight word. (Sight words are the words that appear most frequently in our reading and writing)

Wednesday saw us looking at Yellow :- Yellow is truly joyous and radiant colour. It exudes warmth, inspiration and vitality. It is the happiest of all colours signifying communication, enlightenment, sunlight and spirituality.

Thurday and Friday we looked briefly at Secondary Colours.  The children coloured in pictures of Green, Orange and Purple.  We also had a blind taste test on Friday afternoon.  The children were given a tiny taste of a flavour and they had to tell us what colour represented the taste. (not pictured as our newsletter is submitted Friday mornings to the school).

For afternoon snack, and to compliment our colour theme, we provided some platters with varying colourful foods.

We always ensure our afternoon snacks are balanced and always have choices of fruit and or vegetables each day along with a variety of dips, biscuits, cheese and the occasional treats such as chips, mini hot dogs, sausages in bread, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, nachos to name a few.

Children need physical play to accommodate their snacks, so when possible we always have at least 30 minutes of outside play after snack time.

Shayaan is very proud of completing his puzzle at Before School Care. Puzzles are great for cognitive development, eye-hand co-ordination, memory and fine motor skills.

Well done Shayaan. Top Effort.
