MCK CHESS CLUB

In preparation for the upcoming 2021 McK Chess Championship (to be held in Term 3), a lot of chess has been played behind the scenes in the last couple of weeks as keen players from across Years 7 to 12 battled for the last few wildcard spots in the main draw.

While the Top 10 finishers in the recent McK Chess Grand Prix qualify for this exclusive tournament directly, six spots are open to anyone in the wider school community to contest. We thank all students who have participated in the preliminary stage, turning this year’s championship into a much bigger event than we have anticipated:

INTRODUCING THE MCK CHESS RATING

In order to provide a meaningful way to rank all active chess players at McKinnon, the McK Chess Rating system was introduced in 2021. Obtaining a rating is essential for students if they wish to participate in exclusive tournaments and/or be picked for the school team in the future.

The official listing of the McK Chess Rating is now available through this link. Anyone who has played a rated game since the start of this year will be included in the database.
