From Principal Team

What a wonderful effort from all of our students, families and staff to ensure the learning journey continued with some amazing growth and opportunities across the school this term.

The standouts for this term on Primary were

"The special person" activity to celebrate the important women in children’s lives,

the return from home learning including the dress up day, our 5/6 camp,

 community worker celebration,

Lakes selfies activity and amazing creativity.

Initiatives in Inquiry, STEM and the use of multimedia have hit the mark with many of our students and provided another pathway to switch on learning. Go Lakers.

We farewell Shannon S. who leaves us today to start a new and exciting journey as a parent. Good luck, we will miss you. Liam will be moving into Prep. Clair S. will be returning next Term and Leah, Dani and Kitty will be having some short breaks during the Term.

On the Secondary Campus there have also been a number of programs with a particular focus on student voice, resilience and problem solving. Young people world wide are struggling with the additional constraints lockdown brings. Loneliness and being cut off has created a plethora of struggles for our adolescents on their journey to adult life.

I congratulate the staff on the continued connecting with families to keep the focus on learning but more so ensuring we focus on humanity. I applaud the students for reaching out to each other and I encourage families to continue to keep us in the loop.

If we don’t know we can’t help.

Today Jennie H. is leaving us for a new adventure and we thank her for her inspiration in establishing the VIA program and also for her commitment to a sustainable world and the many grants she has acquired to engage our students in authentic learning .

Anita S. is also moving on and we thank her for her efforts, particularly in building the capacity of staff in digital technology. Enjoy the next chapter of you pathways.

Stevce K. will join our Science team and bring significant experience to our team, Aimee F. is returning and Bonnie L. will return to us in the role of Secondary Campus Assistant Principal.

Bill will be on leave at the start of Term 3 taking some well earned R and R.

In a time when life is serving up daily challenges try to focus on the important things. For each of us they will be different. Try to be positive, find someone or something that can give you joy and make the most of this break. Term 3 is jam-packed with a load of new learning.
