Year 2 Spotlight

Incursions and Excursions!

This term, the Year 2 students have been lucky enough to participate in three incursions and excursions. We have had six weeks of Drama Toolbox sessions at school, a Crazy Chemicals incursion, and finally our excursion to the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Drama Toolbox

During our six Drama Toolbox sessions, we used puppets and our imaginations to create a range of stories. Through these stories we developed social awareness and decision-making skills to build resilience in different scenarios. We practised identifying our emotions and the emotions of others and discussed the ways in which our actions can impact others.

Crazy Chemicals

The Crazy Chemicals incursion was one of the highlights of this term. We practised being scientists by making predictions, conducting experiments and observing the outcomes of these experiments. We investigated how different materials react and change when combined and experimented using new technologies.

The Royal Botanic Gardens

During our excursion to the Botanic Gardens, the Year 2 students learnt about the physical, mental and emotional benefits of spending time outside and immersed in nature. We did lots and lots of walking, made our own potpourri and created mandalas using natural materials found in the gardens.
