Dear Parents and Carers,
It is challenging to find ourselves in this situation again so please stay safe and follow health advice. Lockdown 5.0 is probably what we did not expect or want however, for the safety of all the community is something we need to do as a team. The five reasons to leave home are also back in place. That means you can only leave home:
- To get the food and supplies you need
- For exercise of up to two hours and no more than 5km from home
- For care or caregiving
- For work or education if you can’t do them from home
- To get vaccinated at the nearest possible location
Please keep an eye on our SkoolBag app as I will keep you all updated on school operations as the changes occur. Thank you for your support, take care, and be kind to yourself and your family.
Our resilient St Fidelis' students and teachers have jumped straight into remote learning staying connected with our teachers and peers.
G.A.T.E.WAYS is coming to St Fidelis!
St Fidelis is officially a G.A.T.E.WAYS host school. We are now hosting G.A.T.E.WAYS Journeys programs for some of St Fidelis students and those from local schools. This program is a teacher nominated program and information for nominated students was sent home to parents last week.
“G.A.T.E.WAYS offers On-site and Online programs that are designed to address the particular needs of gifted and talented students. We provide hands-on workshops that extend and challenge high-ability students beyond the regular school curriculum, and provide an opportunity for them to work with like-minded peers.
G.A.T.E.WAYS has been designing programs in a range of disciplines — from all branches of science, mathematics, technology, language, philosophy, coding, writing, drama and art for over twenty-five years, and delivering them to gifted and talented students in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.”
Some of our students have been nominated by their classroom teacher to participate in this program on September 6th and 13th. If some families do not take up this opportunity then the position will be offered to other students to participate in this program.
I have attached two information packs about G.A.T.E.WAYS Online and On-site programs. Please note that students require a nomination from their teacher to enrol in teacher nominated programs, but parents can enrol their children in parent nominated programs directly.
