IT’S TIME TO HAVE SOME FUN!

SFS BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS

Monday 23rd August

(Hopefully we will be back at school for this day, however if we are still in lockdown this date will be postponed until children return to school)

Book Week is just around the corner, running from the 22nd -27th August.

We will be celebrating all that is wonderful about books and reading on Monday 23rd August at SFS

DRESS UP AND HAVE SOME FUN!

GET CREATIVE

While this year would have been PJ year we feel we have spent a fair bit of time in our PJ’s lately in lockdown SO we are inviting children to come to school on the day dressed up in a costume representing their favourite book character/story or this year’s Book Week theme which is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’.

Once again, with the restrictions in place, we encourage you to be creative and make the best use of what you already have at home. So let your imagination run wild!

Throughout the day children will be participating in a range of activities linked to this year’s Book Week nominated books.

ACTION TEAMS LIFTING SPIRITS

As part of a Remote Learning Action Team activity, the students were asked to create a 'spirit lifting' display to help cheer people up in their neighbourhood.

Clinic 1 Reading

During their Focus Groups Aimee, Remi, William, Liliana, Reyon, Jordan, Davide and Isabella from the LS3 Seniors have been investigating the Aboriginal flag.

They have discovered some information that they would like to share with you.

The rights to the Aboriginal flag is owned by the clothing store WAM because they bought the flag and now anyone who uses the flag has to pay them money.

We think the Aboriginal flag should be owned by the Aboriginal peoples. Did you know that the Aboriginal flag is the only flag in the WHOLE WORLD that you have to pay to use.

Some companies have to pay between $8,000 - $10,0000 to use the flag per year!

Please help us by signing the petition https://change.org/pridenotprofit to make the Aboriginal flag free to use by everyone.

Please check out https://www.clothingthegaps.com.au/pages/free-the-flag and the attached infographic for more information.

Thank you,

Aimee, Remi, William, Liliana, Reyon, Jordan, Davide and Isabella
