PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL

Change happens around us all the time.  Sometimes it is subtle, like the leaves changing colour on a tree.  Other times it is difficult and challenges our resilience.  This current lockdown has certainly challenged me and many others.  I am forever grateful to the amazing people we have in our school community who accept that this is something that we cannot do anything about and do whatever it takes to do the best that they can.

Staff, students and parents/guardians, you are wonderfully supportive of each other.  This makes the challenge of lockdown so much easier.  While it is important to keep routines and continue learning, it is also important to look after our personal wellbeing.  To provide all of us time to close devices and nourish our minds and bodies through meditation, sport, art, music, reading, whatever it might be, we will stop all classes at lunchtime on Friday 23rd July.

On Friday 23rd July we will run the following timetable:

8:55 am - 10:03 am Lesson 1

10:03 am - 10:41 am Recess

10:46 am - 11: 59 am Lesson 2

12:04 pm - 1:17 pm Lesson 4

No classes after this time.

It has been difficult, however we are managing the postponement of most activities that have not been able to go ahead this week and next week. The following changes have been put into place:

  • 10A CHARTSEC - September 1 - 3
  • 10B CHARTSEC - September 8 - 10
  • 10C CHARTSEC - October 11 - 13
  • Production Rehearsals - will be confirmed when restrictions are lifted.
  • Grade 6 Transition Day - will be rescheduled, in consultation with Primary Schools.
  • Year 11 and 12 Parent Teacher Interviews - rescheduled to Wednesday 25th August.
  • Netball and other upcoming sporting events will be confirmed if rescheduling is required.
  • At this stage the General Achievement Test for Year 11 and 12 students studying a Unit 3 and 4 subject, remains scheduled for Thursday 29th July.  Year 11 and 12 students will be kept informed of any changes, as soon as we have been notified by VCAA.

August is a busy time in our school for extra curricular activities, so I pray that everyone in Victoria does their part, staying home and meeting all hygiene requirements, to ensure that we can end our time in lockdown as soon as possible.

Please look after each other.  Our Wellbeing Team are available to assist any students that require support at any time.  Support services were also shared in the last Operoo update to parents.

I look forward to seeing you in person again soon.
