GAT (General Achievement Test) 2021

When news of the current seven day lockdown hit last night, we had to actually pinch ourselves, to believe that this was going to mean the third false start for this year’s GAT.

We all know, with Olympics now coming to a close, there’s no such thing as three false starts. Luckily for us, we are resilient and I encourage every student to take a big breath, it is what it is after all. I believe that it can be very cathartic to take a moment to reflect and think about when you can’t control what’s happening around you, concentrate on how you respond to what’s happening, that’s where the power is. Stay positive, keep up your learning pace over this lockdown and keep an ear out for yet another rescheduled date.

The GAT involves all VCE students who do at least 1 Unit 3 and 4 subject. Students will be allocated to either Boucher Hall or the former Wallace Street library which we refer to as the “Wallace Street Exam Centre”. Start time will always be 10:00am with 15 minutes reading time followed by three hours of writing time meaning a 1:15pm finish, regardless of the date VCAA choose for the next reschedule.

Completing the three hour GAT is a monumental task. We have invested significant time and money into preparing our students for the GAT. Students have had a genuine practice which was assessed by an external GAT marker. Individual student feedback was uploaded to Compass. They have also worked on their writing tasks during English and it was great to see that so many took up the opportunity to attend a GAT Preparation presentation last Tuesday presented by Mr Ross Huggard and made available through our Regional Office.

Students must wear full school uniform and stay for duration of the time so that they give themselves the very best chance of success and are respectful of their classmate’s efforts.

We wish our students the very best of luck with GAT, whenever that may be, we know you will give it your best shot.

Year 11 formal/Year 12 disco

We’d just like you to be aware that we are working within Covid restrictions to secure a date and details that are supportive of a Year 11 Formal. We will keep you updated as we can confirm plans.

The same scenario is in motion for rescheduling the Year 12 Disco.

Course Counselling for 2022

Course counselling for 2022 Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12 classes has almost closed. We do understand that it can sometimes be difficult making these decisions so early but our planning for 2022 means we need to be organised so that all students have their best opportunity, booklists can be planned, sometimes teacher recruitment and securing special programs as just a few reasons.

It has been wonderful that so many parents and students have visited the Hub, called and emailed seeking advice. Education is a partnership and we always welcome your interest and feedback.
