Year 9 News
Vermont Secondary College
Year 9s have started the important process of subject selection for Year 10.
All students should be close to completing the Morrisby Profile which will help with future career planning. This must be completed by the end of this week.
The booklets with the results will be sent out next week.
As a result of the latest lock down, Year 9 into 10 students will now have an individual course counselling session with a member of staff via Teams in Week 5 (August 9-13th).
The staff member will call you to discuss your Web Preferences. Parents and Guardians are very welcome to be part of these conversations if they are working from home. Thank you for your patience with our Online Forum during the week with the issues we had with the sound (twice!)
Core Choices for Year 10 English in 2022
There are exciting changes to next year’s Year 10 English course.
For the first time, students will have the opportunity to choose one of five options for the first semester of their English course. These options are:
Comedy: Have you heard the one about…?
Dystopia: What if…?
Sport: It’s more than a game
Crime: Is this a dagger which I see before me?
Myths and Legends: Heroes in the seaweed
Information is available in the course handbook.
All Year 9 classes will be visited over the coming weeks to explain the options and answer any questions.
When deciding or which choice will best suit them, students are reminded that these are not subjects they study instead of English. They all involve similar amounts of reading and writing to each other and to Year 9 English.
