Senior Boys Football
The boys played magnificently and followed the instructions quarter by quarter, thus growing in confidence as the games went on. All the games were played in good spirit with all schools enjoying the day. Vermont was the overall winner on the day and are going through to State. Watch this space for more reports and highlights for the up-and-coming round.
The boys would like to specifically thank Mr Billings and Miss Angland for the time, effort, wisdom and the interchangers on the day. We could have not done it without you. Forever in our hearts.

Basketball- Senior Girls and Boys
On Tuesday 3rd August, the Vermont Senior Girls and Boys basketball teams represent the college at EMR finals. Both teams demonstrated a high level of skill, enthusiasm and team spirit and should be commended for their efforts. Despite some excellent Basketball, both teams were knocked out.
For some year 12s this was their final inter-school sports event across and the college and sports department thanks them for their contribution over 6 years of representative sport.

Wednesday 4th of August: EMR- Netball- Year 7 and 8 Girls
Well done to the Year 7 Girls Netball Team that has won through to the SSV State Finals. This is an outstanding achievement, Vermont Secondary College has not reached a Netball State Final for a number of years. The girls played some outstanding Netball in less than ideal conditions and they achieved some excellent results. The Grand Final was very exciting, as Vermont was trailing by 3 goals half way through the 3rd quarter. The girls went on to win by 7 goals. Special thanks to Ms Macfarlane, Mr Stevens and Brooke Porteous (Year 12) for coaching the girls.

Year 8 Netball
The Year 8 Girl’s Netball team displayed great courage and persistence as they battled the elements throughout the day. They started the day with an easy win against Lilydale, and fought hard over the next two games. Accurate goal shooting saw Vermont place second in the pool, where we played the unstoppable team from Rowville in the semi-finals. They never gave up and continued to fight hard until the end. I have been very impressed with the level of skill and versatility the team has shown over the past term. We all had an enjoyable day and the friendships that have formed in the team will last for years to come. A special thanks to year 10 student coaches Amber and Kate for all of their hard work with the team over the last couple of months. Well done ladies, you should be so proud of your efforts.
Miss Eccles.
