Year 12 Farewell Liturgy

On Thursday we celebrated our Year 12 Farewell Liturgy with a large presence of family members joining us on the live stream. Our Liturgy called forth our young men and women to launch into the world carrying the light of Christ in their hearts and minds, this intention was reflected in the theme, ‘You are the Light of the World’.

The Liturgy began with an entrance procession, where students brought forward symbols to place upon the prayer space, reflective of their time of learning, sport, culture, music and the arts at Mater Dei. The bond of love and friendship these students share will continue beyond Mater Dei Catholic College, holding a strong presence in their lives in the future.

The Liturgy included a beautiful reflection entitled ‘Go Light Your World’ where students enjoyed the opportunity to look back upon their time together at Mater Dei, their experiences of Retreats, Camps, Reflection Days and Social Justice opportunities. It was a joyful experience to see our students gather together for this memorable moment in their lives.

At this time we also remember Illaria Donebus, a much loved member of Carroll House who joined the cohort in Year 7 and would have graduated in 2021.

Blessing for our Year 12 Students and their Families

Gracious God,
Bless these students; your servants, with many achievements.
As these graduates begin new phases of their lives,
may they know your love and experience your peace in all they encounter.

Bless the parents of these students.
Give them strength in your continuing presence,
and give them many joyful reunions with their sons and daughters
who may be leaving home soon to begin new ventures

We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Mount Erin Boarding - Year 12 Farewell Liturgy and Presentation

On Wednesday evening we gathered with the Mount Erin Boarding Year 12 Students to share in their final Liturgy and Farewell Presentation. It was a very special occasion where we acknowledged the contributions and achievements of Ada Crain (Captain), Aidan Jones (Captain), Molly Baron, Zoe Holland, Matilda McCrone, Jaxson McGuire and Michaela Spry.

Students took part in a prayerful liturgy and were presented with a special candle to symbolise the light of Christ, a flame in their hearts for the future.

The Liturgy made connections with the rich history of Mount Erin Boarding, and the role of the Presentation Sisters, subsequent lay teachers and boarding leaders who have been the guardians of Nano’s dream to engage in the mission of God, guiding our young people in this distinctive way towards honour, truth, trust and respect. The students acknowledged making many fond memories and friendships during their time of boarding, which will be recalled long after their HSC year.

The formalities concluded with Bishop Mark sharing some very wise words about learning and life, followed by a grace. Afterwards a delicious dinner which had been  prepared by the Caterer Mr Dave Lugton and his team was enjoyed by all.

We wish all Year 12 Boarders at Mount Erin, all the very best for the future!
