THE RIPPLE EFFECT - Point + Be Proud

Coming to EMC in November

The Ripple Effect is a documentary produced by St Kilda Football Club in partnership with Dickson Films and VicHealth and led by St Kilda Indigenous Liaison Officer Nathan Lovett-Murray, the documentary delves into racism in Australia through the eyes of the nation’s most prominent and inspiring athletes of colour.

The Ripple Effect primarily centres around St Kilda legend and proud Noongar Nicky Winmar'sgeneration-defining stand against racism at Victoria Park in 1993, and features interviews with Lovett-Murray, Ben Long, Nova Peris, Josh Addo-Carr, Otis Hope Carey, Akec Makur Chuot, Bachar Houli and more.

A condensed version of the documentary will be used alongside the affiliated education program Point + Be Proud.  St Kilda FC will come to 4 Middle School classes in November and run sessions with students, aiming to educate the next generation about the ongoing impacts of racism on Indigenous mental health and wellbeing.

“It’s a story that needs to be told,” Winmar said.
