Student Representative Meeting Minutes

Welcome to everyone.

New Business

  • Six songs to be considered are:

-All the Stars-Kendrick Lamar SZA requested by Mark

-Alone- Marshmellow, requested by Mark

-Only love can hurt like this – Paloma Faith, requested by Bri

- Sunset Jesus- Avicii, requested by Chris N

  • On behalf of all the girls after consultation, Mark has suggested an all-girls class for 2019. The students discussed how there has been boy’s classes in the past. Colin explained about the number of boys at Concord is higher than girls and will take the suggestion to Leadership
  • Chris together with SAS have come up with some suggestions for further Sec 7/8 lunchtime clubs. The suggestions were as follows:

 -ICT club- iPad and computers

-Football/ Soccer club

-Drama/ Acting club

-Book club-reading and writing

-Lego club

-First Aid club

-Gardening club

-Mindfulness club

-Board games club

-Movie club

-Music- dancing

Colin replied excellent work, very proud of you and SAS for taking the time to come up with amazing ideas. These ideas will be take ton Jane Stacey and the Sec 7/8 team for consideration.

  • Discussion was held regarding the naming of the Discovery Centre robot. Colin explained that gender neutral means NOT boy or girl, man or woman. The suggestions collected were as follows :Astro, Bob.Bot-A-Bon,Bumblebee,Chase,Danielle,Droid,DX Oslomo,Dyler,Faisal, fergus,Frank,IQ Genius,Jessie,King Tic Tac, Lebron James,Metalhead,Michael Jordan,Oscar, Rex,Sam,Scooter,Simon, Trey
  • After careful consideration and voting by the team, the winning name was Astro with 10 votes with IQ Genius coming in second with 6 votes. Congratulations to everyone involved with this process
  • Year 12 Jacket proposal was delivered by Madison SNK. The proposal written by Ruby and Madi indicated the following:

-the jackets will show that we are the leaders of the school, looking like mature adults

-influence the younger students to picture us as role models

-may encourage themselves to be themselves

- give us a fresh new look

- something to keep to remember our high school years

Colin will take the proposal to leadership and School Council

I have multiple roles this term at Concord School and every day can look different. In Outdoor Education students are participating in rock climbing and swimming which they are enjoying.
