Concord Community Connections

Last week we held an NDIS Parent Information Evening. Local Area Coordinators Matt and Chris from the Greensborough branch (65 Main Street, Greensborough) explained the process of applying for the NDIS, and went into detail about self-managing your child’s plan. They have invited any interested people to pop in to their branch at any time for a chat and they can answer any questions you may have and can assist with the NDIS process.

The NDIS Self-Management Booklet has been put on Compass for you to download if you wish and it can also be found on the NDIS website - www.ndis.gov.au

Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

Approximately 30 per cent of parents have been invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year the Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 23rd July to Sunday 26th August.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 10-15 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

News from the School Nurse

From Monday the 27th of August, we will be moving our Sick Bay processes on to Compass. All visits to Sick Bay that require parent/carer notification will now be processed on Compass, rather than by sending home a written note as is currently being completed.

Parents will receive an email advising them that their child has visited Sick Bay and that more information can be found by visiting Compass. Whilst this process is being introduced, parents will also receive and short note home prompting them to access Compass for more details of their child’s visit.

Once on Compass, parents need to open their child’s profile. This can be accessed on the Compass home page, by clicking ‘Profile’ as shown below.

On this page you will see your child’s Sick Bay information on the right hand side of the screen in a green box.

This change will allow us to keep accurate and up to date information on all students that can easily be accessed by parents/carers and staff.

If you have forgotten your Compass log in details, or need assistance logging in, please contact your child’s campus office.
