Principal's Report

Special Events

Excitement is building for the Presentation Balls which are to be held next Friday 31st August (Year 11) and the following Friday (Year 12) at the Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre. Across both Balls there will be 407 staff and family members filling the Centre to witness our 51 students being presented. This is a very special time for our students and a night that they will remember for the rest of their lives. Check out our school facebook page in the coming weeks for some photos of this spectacular event.

Redevelopment of Clubhouse on Loyola Oval

The Banyule Council have advised that works on the redevelopment of the Clubhouse on Loyola Oval will commence in September. Construction is expected to take 6-8 months. This is fantastic for the Bundoora Cricket Club and Watsonia Baseball Club who deserve this much-needed facility. It will also be beneficial for our school as we use the Clubhouse for events such as the Christmas Concert. The negative is that the end of the car park will be fenced off during construction meaning a number of car parking spaces will be out of use. I will provide further updates regarding the car parking and construction details as they become available.

Laurimar Primary School Sports Day

In the previous Newsletter I mentioned that some of our Secondary students, who live near Laurimar PS, recently worked in leadership roles assisting at the Laurimar PS Athletics Carnival. Please view some of the photos below.

School Uniform Reminder- School Jumper

We are nearing the end of winter but the days are often still very cold and most of our students are wearing the winter uniform. The vibrant red in the Secondary jumper is particularly noticeable and parents/carers are reminded once again that the school jumper, and not the spray jacket, must be worn first with the formal uniform. Please contact Deb Whiteway in the school office on 94673972 if you require the red (or charcoal for Year 11/12) woollen jumper, spray jacket and/or rugby jumper. Parents/carers whose circumstances may make it difficult to obtain a school uniform are asked to contact Colin Simpson (Assistant Principal) for assistance.

School Communication and the use of Compass

It is important that all parents log into Compass so our school can communicate effectively with you. If you have any questions regarding Compass, or are having difficulty in logging-on, then please ring Karen Jordan at our school on 94673972. The Compass log-on can be found at https://concordsch-vic.compass.education or through the ‘Compass Parent Portal’ link on our website.

Principal's Award

The Principal's Award goes to Kale Gallenti

Kale started Prep at the beginning of the year, excited to make new friends and eager to join all the learning at Concord.  This term he has shown improvement in his ability to listen and thoughtfully contribute to group discussions, and his interest and skills in reading have grown considerably. Kale you are a kind friend to the students in PAL, and you try hard to make choices that make teachers proud. We are proud of you, and all you have achieved since starting school. Well done!
