Sustainability at St Raphael's

October is Walk to School month
This month is VicHealth Walk to School month and St Raphael's has joined hundreds of Victorian schools in the quest to get more active. Every October, Walk to School encourages primary school kids to walk, scoot or ride to school. To join in, simply walk, ride or scoot to and/or from school as often as you can. If you live a little further from school, simply park a few blocks away and walk the rest. Walk to school uses 700 metres as an 'average walk' when calculating their statistics. For families who finds this a challenge, we will be running a walking club at school during recess to help add ticks to our calendar and improve on last year's results . We were placed 11th out of 20 schools in the Darebin area. Active kids make active learners so get involved during October and develop healthy habits for life.
Walk to school dance-a-thon
To help celebrate Walk to School month we held a DANCE-A-THON during lunch time last Tuesday. With the help of a little bling, we were proud to see many students doing the Macarena, Nutbush and joining a conga line in the pursuit to fun and fitness. A big thank you to Kasia from Darebin Council who provided delicious fresh fruit to keep us going all lunchtime long.
