Mayor – Christine Henderson Guest  Presentation Humanities Year  7B

On Friday the 30th of October, the Mayor Christine Henderson of Mt Alexander Shire was the guest speaker for the year 7B Humanities class.

We exchanged ideas and views on pull and related liveability factors in Mt Alexander Shire and its wider community. 

We learned at about local Government, Christine’s role as Mayor and discussed what we enjoy about living in the Mt Alexander Region and its surrounding community.

Other discussions included suggestions of an ideal future community from a year 7 and youth perspective. Recommendations included the use of skateboards in more locations, gardens, plantations and landscapes that were similar to a small rainforest and a fun entertainment venue for young people.

We provided the Mayor feedback from the outcomes of our research projects which included suggestions of what is considered our ideal community.

Our class enjoyed the discussion and exchange with her and we were honoured to have Christine Henderson visit our school.

Drama

There are some upcoming  Drama performances to keep in mind for the next few weeks.

Already this term there has been a dress rehearsal in early October for the year 12 Drama Solo performances and a successful year 11 performance of some excellent ensemble work , ‘the Arrival”, just last Wednesday, photos attached.

Kind Bequest

Recently, CSC’s Art Department received a very generous bequest from the Cherry Tennant family.

The bequest consisted of boxes of art supplies, including an abundance of paint, brushes, pencils and many, many books about art and artists.

This generous gift has been gratefully received by the Art teachers at CSC and will greatly benefit our students for a long time to come.

We would like to warmly thank our benefactor and her family and assure them that these materials will be utilised with appreciation for months and years to come.
