Junior School Report

This Term, students have commenced with a very busy program.

Our Year 7 Students visited the zoo as Grade 6 students had a visit to our school for a Taster Day.  All students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

FORUMS AND NAPLAN

This month in the Junior School has seen Year 7 and 8 students participate in Student Forums. The students had an opportunity to discuss issues around the school and to express their opinions on various activities.  Coordinators were very impressed with the level of contribution and the openness of students to discuss issues. Students in Year 7 have also completed their Naplan testing.

PROGRESS REPORTS

Teachers have completed writing Progress reports which are now available for parents on Compass. The reports are an indication of where your child is progressing at the moment.  If there are any concerns with your child’s progress the Coordinators will ring you. Please ensure that we have up to date contact details.

ASSEMBLY

We held our Assembly and we had a number of students present to their peers some techniques on how to study and prepare for tests. The students gave various strategies that they found useful and they spoke very well. The students articulated very clear examples and suggestions to help others improve. Thank you To Karamvir, Maybel, Henry of (Year 7)  and Jillian, Billy, Kathleen and Preet

Thank you also to Jordan Giang who sang beautifully for the Year 8 students.

Flipside – Anti Bullying Program

In June, Year 7 and 8 will attend “Flipside” - an Anti- Bullying program at school. This production will look at the different types of bullying that students are exposed to and some strategies with which to deal with it if it occurs. Integrated studies teachers will be provided with support materials in order to follow up the issues that this production addresses.

ABSENCES

We require attendance of 90% in order to pass subjects.

If your child is absent we require either a note signed by the parent or guardian explaining the reason for the absence. The note needs to include your child’s name, their class and the date of the absence. If your child has attended a doctor or dentist please ask for a medical certificate as that will not count as an absence.

You may also ring a leave a message explaining your child’s absence. The phone call or note need to be brought to the coordinator on the day the student returns to school.

With winter approaching please ensure your child has a jumper and or wet weather jacket. Only white or black scarves are permitted. Please don’t leave shoes outside overnight and your child’s name should be written on all articles of clothing.  Hoodies, canvas shoes and coloured t-shirts are not permitted.
