We are learning to summarise a nonfiction text 

VOCABULARY

Summarise: To give a brief statement using only the main points of something. 

I: Identify the text

V: Verb - what is the author doing

T: Topic of the text

B: Big idea of the text 

Then record 2 or 3 important pieces of information from the text. Use the above to write a summary 

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

At school we are using the IVTB structure to support students in summarising non fiction texts. Have your child read or watch a non fiction text / documentary and have them complete a NF summary using the above technique.
