Melbourne Excursion

Our whole-school excursion to Melbourne was voted a hit by all that attended. The train ride was a highlight- with some students experiencing a train ride for the very first time.

Our visit to ACMI was very interesting with lots of hands-on displays and activities for our students to participate in and learn about the history of the moving image. Well worth a visit if you are heading to Melbourne in the near future.

The students enjoyed "chilling out" in Federation Square and were very excited to be able to relax in some beanbags and watch the Women's World Cup Soccer on the big screen. A couple of our students were even interviewed by a journalist from New York who was shooting a documentary on Women's Sport!

Melbourne Skydeck was a thrill and we all enjoyed our virtual (6D) tour of Melbourne using virtual reality headsets and sitting in a moving pod. The ride to the top of the tower was fast and exciting and the views when we got there were amazing.

As usual, our students were very enthusiastic and appreciative of such an outing and were

of course, on their best behaviour. Our littlest people were very tired by the end of this very long day, but weren't they lucky to have somewhere (on someone) to rest their weary heads?

Music at Raywood

We have now begun weekly music, dance and drama sessions with our students. We are so fortunate to be visited each week by Mr Darren Netto from The Songroom; Darren provides fun, movement filled and hands-on learning sessions for our students each Wednesday afternoon. These sessions will continue to run until mid-way through Term 4. As you can see from the pictures, our students are thoroughly engaged and are loving these sessions.

Life Saving Victoria Incursion

On Tuesday, we were very fortunate to have a visit from Life Saving Victoria. Our facilitator is an actual life-guard as well as an education officer. She ran a session for our students on water safety when near all open waterways including rivers and beaches. The sessions were very hands-on and involved lots of activities. We now know about rips, staying between the flags, supervision near water and rescues.

MARC News

Book Week will be over for most schools when they read this, and what a fabulous time we have had! It is always so wonderful to see students dressing up and celebrating books. Above are the CBCA 2023 winners and honour books. The MARC van has all of these (excluding the older readers category).

Thank you to all the people at home who have helped make this years Book Week a memorable time for us all.

I will be on Long Service Leave for the last 2 weeks of Term 3, so I will see you all in Term 4! Mrs G

Our last book for Shadow Judging was Lionel and Me by Corinne Fenton. We loved the friendship that grew between Maverick and Lionel, even though Lionel was a bit annoying when he was a puppy!

We made rocking and rolling dogs using foam, bottle tops and plasticine.

Art News

We have been busy weaving over the past few sessions. The students made their own weaving tool and looms to weave on. We can not wait to "show off" our finished products which will see the students making their weaving into some form of imaginary or real-life creature.
