Careers Update
We are coming into a really exciting season for the 2023 cohort of Year 12 Year 12 students. VCE Students are asked to think about their VTAC applications for Tertiary Study in 2024.
Each year the students are provided with one-on-one support to register and choose preferences for courses to study. In the coming weeks, I will also be meeting with the current Year 12 VCAL students to discuss intentions for 2024 and provide support for their transition to work or further study.
All the fun is not just for the year 12 students though, as it is never too early to start exploring the options available and open up conversations around the types of jobs you have an interest in. VTAC has some great resources to start exploring university courses that are available.
Specifically, for the current Year 10 Students, they have just updated the 2026 Prerequisites for Tertiary Studies VTAC Resources.
Below are links to the guide for prerequisites:

2024 Year 10 Students - Work Experience (Expression of Interest)
You may be thinking it is a little early to be talking about work experience for 2024, however if there are any students interested in an opportunity to complete work experience at the Parliament of Victoria, this may be for you!
Important things to consider:
- Are you prepared to travel to the city each day?
- Will you be 15 yo (or older) for work experience week?
- 2024 Year 10 Work experience is Monday 24th June to Friday 28th June.
If you are interested you will need to complete the Expression of Interest via the online link: https://new.parliament.vic.gov.au/teach-and-learn/work-experience/
The following information has been provided by Parliament of Victoria - outlining what the program entails.
Students can choose between two programs, Sitting and Services, and placements are open to students in Victorian schools who are residents of Victoria, and are 15 years or over at the time of the placement. We endeavour to choose students from a mixture of government, independent, and Catholic schools, from metropolitan and regional areas, and of all gender identities.
Parliamentary Sitting placements provide the opportunity to see the law-making process up close. Students will go behind the scenes with the staff who directly support Parliament sittings, to get a deeper understanding of our democratic processes.
Parliamentary Services placements offer a variety of opportunities that can be matched with a broad range of student interests and career goals, including business management, facilities management and maintenance, community engagement and broadcasting, and hospitality.
Mornington Peninsula Shire - Jobs Expo
The following has been provided by our Frankston and Mornington Peninsula LLEN:
As part of their Small Business Festival, the Mornington Peninsula Shire is running a Jobs Expo on Wednesday 23rd August from 11.30-4.30pm at the Peninsula Community Theatre and is open to all job seekers (adult and young people).
Students who are seeking employment (part time or full time), exploring pathway options or want to tap into community support in the MP region are encouraged to attend. The event is open until 4.30pm to catch students after school if they can’t get there during the day.
For more details please refer to the flyer on the N-Block noticeboard.
Year 12 Results/VTAC & SEAS Applications
