Ingredients
250 gms of pasta
1 bunch of silverbeet leaves (stalks removed)
1 onion
A splash of olive oil
100 gms of butter
¼ cup of plain flour
300 ml milk
40 gms of cheese
salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste
Method
1. Cook pasta according to package instructions.
2. Blanch the silverbeet leaves and then refresh in cold water.
3. Squeeze excess water from the silverbeet and put aside.
4. Finley chop the onion and cook in the oil for 4-5 minutes.
5. Add onion and silverbeet to an ovenproof dish with the cooked pasta.
6. Melt butter in a saucepan, add flour and cook out for 1-2 mins.
7. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth.
8. Pour over silverbeet and onion mixture.
9. Sprinkle over the cheese and place under a preheated grill.
10. Grill until golden brown.
This recipe is a great side dish to have when you want something different.
