Year 11 Pastoral Guardian

At our Reflection Day  so long ago in February, the Year 11 cohort acknowledged that they were at an exciting precipice as the trailblazers of ATAR, starting 2019 united, excited, and nervous, but committed to achieving goals and success.  Trailblazers they have been for the whole year!  Your daughters have worked consistently this year and are united in their journey.  As parents, you are probably even speaking in ISMG terminology as well as living their journey.  Congratulations!  You have graduated from Units 1 and 2.  In their first year in Elizabeth Hayes School, Year 11s have been an outstanding, supportive cohort and excellent Big Sister mentors positively engaged in leadership and service. Together, they have risen to Dr Tuite’s challenge to be “the best possible version of yourself”, and our 2019 Captains’ challenge to “unlock your potential”.

The recent Awards evening and assemblies were a testament to hard work and personal commitment  in academic and certificate courses, sport, spirit and cultural life, service, and Franciscan values in outreach and home room.  It was pleasing that so many Year 11 students were acknowledged.  I commend the Year 11s who have stepped up this year to outreach opportunities in Peer Support, Sony Camp, Vinnies Sleepover, the upcoming Vietnam trip in December, and so many other contributions they have made this year.  They are living our Franciscan values of service.

As our Year 12s excitedly and deservedly celebrated their final day of learning on Tuesday at the College, ready to embark on their brave new worlds, I was with our Year 11s waiting in the wings for their chance to make their mark in Year 12 leadership.  There was an air of excitement of times to come.

Our Captains for 2020 are ready, and are to be congratulated for stepping up into leadership, supported by the whole year level.  As part of their leadership journey, they attended a leadership conference today at the Brisbane Convention Centre, with leaders in training from Clare School.

As a year level, we congratulate the Seniors of 2019, and look forward to stepping into their shoes as they have been wonderful role models of leadership for us this year.

I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.  God bless.
