This week, we have welcomed Stephen Gaggin to our team as Acting Deputy Principal. Stephen is an experienced Deputy Principal with a passion for helping to continue the success of our students, school and community.  He is a skilled educational leader and local resident and we are very pleased to welcome him to Team Tally.

Stephen will welcome students to school each day with Rachael and me, so please feel free to say hello when you see him as he is very keen to get to know our community.

Bump it Up

From Prep to Year 6 we teach our students about “bumping up their work”.  Bumping up means improving and is a process that supports children to know what they need to do next to improve their work and then to achieve that improvement.

There are displays in classrooms to assist children to bump up their writing called, Bump it Up walls.  Bump it Up walls include examples of work at different levels, criteria in child friendly language and learning resources (e.g. QR codes linked to videos of related teaching and displays of words to enhance writing).

Here are some questions that you may ask your child to start a conversation about their writing:

What do you need to do to improve your writing?

How are you going to bump up your writing?

How did you bump up your writing?

How can you use the Bump it Up wall?

Their responses will vary depending on where they are up to in the writing cycle.

Dental Van

The Gold Coast Health Dental Van is now positioned onsite at the end of the hall.  Information about how to make an appointment for your child has been shared on Class Dojo. The van will be onsite until Friday 6 June.

P&C Day 12 May

Last week, there was a morning tea to thank our P&C on P&C Day.  Thank you to our P&C for their hard work to help our students, school and community!!!

Chaplaincy Week - May 21 – 28

A huge thank you to Chappy Steph during Chaplaincy Week!  Chappy Steph is settling in well and has been a delightful addition to our team.  She has been connecting with the Tallebudgera community and students since her commencement in week 10 last term.  Chappy Steph is incredibly warm and friendly and our students are enjoying seeing her around the school and the fun, break time activities have been very popular.

Chappy Steph enjoyed helping at the recent Mother’s Day Stall.

Braveheart’s Ditto Show

Last week, students in Prep to Year 2 had the opportunity to attend Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show, a personal safety education program.  The Ditto show compliments the Health curriculum and themes of personal safety are also addressed through our educational programs for Year 3 to Year 6.

Student Conduct

Our students continue to impress with outstanding behaviour, especially in the areas of being respectful and friendly.  Thank you to our school community for fostering the Tally Way and partnering with us to grow such fine young people.  Our community members are excellent role models and that helps a lot!
