Pentecost

This Sunday is the great Feast of Pentecost. Each of us is filled with the Holy Spirit at our Baptism, the same Spirit that descended on Jesus at his baptism. The Spirit is our Advocate and our guide throughout our lives. It transforms us, it makes all people one, and it will renew the face of the earth if we follow where it leads us. It will lead us toward the fulfillment of God's Kingdom.

The Spirit is often referred to as the "Breath of God". God's Word, Jesus, is revealed and made real by the presence of the Holy Spirit. Filled with the Spirit at Baptism and renewed in that same Spirit every time we participate in any sacrament, we are drawn closer to life of God. From this participation, we are sent out as witnesses to Jesus.

Again this Pentecost, let our prayers ring out across this Great South Land of the Holy Spirit: Lord, send out Your Spirit and renew the face of the earth! Amen!

Vinnies Winter Appeal

Last year, we were overwhelmed by the support the OLSC community gave to our Vinnies Winter Appeal efforts. The donations to this appeal help many families and individuals throughout our local community.

This year we will be participating in this appeal again. During Weeks 7-9, we ask you to bring donations of canned & non-perishable food, toiletries and (new) warm winter gloves, beanies and scarves. The last collection will be on Tuesday of Week 9. Thank you for your cooperation and generosity.

Preps in Pyjamas Sacramental Evening

This Wednesday evening the Prep team and Prep students and families  gathered for the Preps in Pyjamas sacramental evening. The evening began with prayer, in which students were able to demonstrate our morning prayer routine. We read the story 'When God made you' and students decorated a cross with their parents and siblings present. It was a wonderful evening and a special way to begin our work together in continuing the spiritual and sacramental development of our students, within a 'school-family' partnership.
