INTERSCHOOL SPORT

Today we played our second round of interschool sport "friendlies".  We play 5 rounds in total and field teams in netball, footy, t-ball and soccer each Friday morning.  Parents are most welcome to come down and support the teams.

Of the 80 x Year 6 students we have this year, 32 students picked Aussie Rules as their first choice!  Instead of having 14 students on the bench (a coach's nightmare), we rotate players weekly into other sports.  They still all get to play a minimum of 3 games of footy each.  This has been explained to all of the Year 6s at school.  To the student's credit, most of them have been fine to play another sport to help out.  The vast majority of times, they enjoy the experience of playing a new sport that they have never played before.  Last year's girl's t-ball team were all rookies to the game and took a positive mindset to the task.  And they made it through to the Victorian State finals!

Rotating footballers and netballers in and out of the teams also allows us to field full teams in the other sports.  If we are a team or two short, we deny students from other schools the opportunity to play their chosen sport.  Fielding all teams means less bench time for everyone.
